Fall Festival Season Underway

Boise’s fall get-togethers are raring to go between September and October. Start with a biggie: Treefort Music Festival, after taking a year off in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, is now ready for its debut. The five-day music, culture and general creative togetherness moved its event from spring to September 22 for this year, taking over downtown Boise venues all over. Participants will need to show proof of vaccination or proof of a recent negative COVID-19 test result, and yes, there is an app for that. Go to treefortmusicfestival.com for all the details. And it’s time for the more traditional festivals, like the Old Boise Oktoberfest, where for one glorious day, September 19, anybody can be just as German as they want to be, and enjoy bratwurst, Pilsner-style beers and more down on Boise’s 6th Street. Follow the sound of accordions. And then we get to look forward to Boise Restaurant week at the end of October and beginning of November. We’ll have more information on this one soon.

Virtual Race, Real Fitness

The in-person event may have been shut down, but FitOne Boise, the weeklong celebration of fitness for everyone, has committed to a virtual event that will get your internal motor running. As for the signature race event, participants will join a same-distance virtual race to complete during the week of Sept. 19-25. Participants can plan their own course and race it during that time window. All St. Luke’s FitOne proceeds support St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital and support nutrition education and active living programs. Go to fitoneboise.org for more. But if you’re looking for a classic running race then be sure to scope out the Boise Marathon, set for Oct. 24 this year. Go to www.boisemarathon.com for more on this year’s event.
