Something For Everyone in August

It may be the last month of summer but Boise is going out with some summery milestone events. For starters, it wouldn’t be August in Boise without the Albertsons Boise Open golf tournament, happening at the Hillcrest Country Club from August 19-22. This year’s tournament features plenty of high-ranked pros, swinging for prize money and points. And in the evenings, enjoy the live music on the main stage: there are still tickets available to catch classic rockers REO Speedwagon on Friday night. Find out more at www.albertsonsboiseopen.com. Or plan ahead for a high-flying anniversary as the Spirit of Boise Balloon Classic celebrates its 30th year of hot air ballooning above Boise. As they have for years, balloon pilots, their crews and their fans alike will gather at Ann Morrison Park for an event that makes Boise’s airspace a whole lot more whimsical than usual. Mark the calendar for Sept. 1-5 and watch them go aloft shortly after dawn. Find out more at www.spiritofboise.com.

Treefort Rises

They’re back and ready to rock: Boise’s own Treefort Music Festival is staging its return to Boise in September this year. The multi-faceted fest will happen September 21-26, and it’s worth checking in on tickets and band listings now so you don’t wind up missing out on the show you were really hoping to catch. Consider that the main stage will feature bands like Lake Street Drive, Boise’s own Built to Spill and Calexico and then visit www.treefortmusicfest.com for more. And yes, all the other “forts” will be back: Alefort for beer, Storyfort for live storytelling and Yogafort for, well, you get the idea.
