Boise’s Busy Airport

Just when you thought Boise’s airport couldn’t get any more popular, there are new flights announced. This time it’s Southwest Airlines, which is getting ready to put more and more flights through Boise to exciting destinations. Starting June 6, Southwest flight from Boise will have new nonstop flights from Boise to Orange County and Dallas Love Field. But they’re offering some Love (Field) to already-running flights as well; Chicago and Orange County will both get a daily flight added. Feeling lucky? Southwest is increasing its trip counts to two flights daily and now has added an extra flight on to San Jose (one daily flight year-round) and San Diego. Don’t forget that Delta Air Lines began daily nonstop service between Boise and Atlanta, GA in November, 2020. But wait, it gets better: Allegiant Airlines has announced service to Nashville starting on May 28, while Alaska Airlines kicks off nonstop service to Austin starting June 17. Likewise JetBlue has announced it will launch nonstop flights between the Boise Airport and New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport on July 2, 2021. Once all these announced flights are operating, Boise will have nonstop service to 27 destinations across the United States.

Spring Brings Back Sports

The grass is greening up and sports events are starting to rev up in the Boise region. The 2021 US Youth Soccer FarWest Regional Championships takes place June 21 - June 27 in Boise, bringing Boys and Girls teams in the 13U through 19U age groups who will compete for a regional championship and a spot at the 2021 US Youth Soccer National Championships. They’ll be taking over the Simplot Sports Complex that week and it’s always a good show. Can’t get enough competition? Catch some athletes who take Pickleball much more seriously than your average player: Check out the Pacific Northwest Regional Pickleball Tournament, hosted at Hobble Creek Park also in late June.
